Throughout the centuries, philosophers and mathematicians have contemplated the vast night sky, pondering a profound question: "Is it possible to play Golf on Mars?"

Welcome to Golf On Mars, where the year is 2866 and Mars has been terraformed by 35%, finally enabling us to experience the game of golf on this awe-inspiring planet.

Embark on an extraordinary journey as you golf across the infinite rocky surface of Mars, encountering mind-boggling obstacles that would leave any Earthling astounded.

(Please note: Although infinity cannot be accurately represented on non-quantum computers, there are approximately 25,770,000,000 golf holes in this game.)

In 2020, NASA will launch the Perseverance rover on a mission to search for signs of life and uncover the possibility of golf on Mars. The rover's journey is estimated to take 200 days.

If you were to play one hole of Golf On Mars every 30 seconds during this entire journey, you would only be able to complete a mere 0.002% of the game, amounting to 576,000 holes.

To put this into perspective, let's consider a hypothetical scenario. Imagine yourself as a paleolithic hunter-gatherer, traversing the ice bridge connecting Russia to Alaska during the last glacial maximum approximately 24,515 years ago. Suddenly, a time traveler arrives and presents you and your tribe with an iPhone, on which you ritually play a hole of Golf On Mars every 30 seconds. Astonishingly, it would take until present day to complete all the holes.

However, it is important to note that this simulation is far from realistic.

For example, if we assume that the ball on your screen is 16 pixels wide, a typical hole would be a mere 1,200 pixels away. Scaling this down to match the size of a real golf ball (1.68 inches), it would be as if the hole is only 3.5 yards away!

Imagining a practical scenario, an 18-hole golf course with fairways that are 3.5 yards apart would require only about 1,300 square feet of land. Yet, due to the lower gravity on Mars, where it is only 38% of Earth's gravity, a skilled player would be able to hit the ball approximately seven times farther. This means that an 18-hole golf course on Mars would need to span a massive area of 64,000 square feet. In fact, you could cover the entire surface of Mars with an astonishing 241 billion of these golf courses!

Thus, Golf On Mars can easily accommodate all the holes on the planet's surface.

On Mars, a par 3 course awaits you, so aim to complete it in under 77 billion strokes.
